What do artistic voices and music that advocate for anti-racism, anti-sexism, and decolonialization sound like? What stories do they tell? What emotions do they evoke, and what forces do they unleash? Maia Loh and DJ Salma Ali present SOUNDS OF RESISTANCE, a curated screening and listening series that showcases music videos by inspiring, contemporary artivists. Together, we invite you to listen mindfully.
Part of the evening is also reserved for your favorite anti-racist and decolonial songs and music videos. So, feel free to share your picks with us via this pad: board.net/p/soundsofresistance
As a web link (e.g. YouTube), or simply note the title, the artist(s), and possibly the year of release. Please be mindful of sensitive content and language when selecting music or videos: Who speaks for whom? And who represents whom?
Let's get inspired from these artistic works! Let's recharge our creative and critical energies and set them in motion.
Due to the topics covered, we recommend that attendees of the music video session be 12 years of age or older.
