Transforming Hegemonic Places to Spaces of Belonging
Tour followed by Discussion
21.06.2026, 11:30–13:30 Uhr
Schloss Leopoldskron, Leopoldkronstraße 56-58
5020 Salzburg
Decolonizing Salzburg, D—Arts and Salzburg Global host a guided tour through Schloss Leopoldskron, aiming to deconstruct the palace’s contested histories and cultural heritage. The tour and discussion will offer an opportunity to engage with its history through a nuanced and critical lens, exploring the cultural and historical legacies embedded in its architecture and how these intersect with hegemonic narratives and racist ideologies.
The tour will also provide insights into Salzburg Global’s institutional journey in understanding the space and the steps the organization has taken to better reflect its core values. The discussion will examine how cycles of power, persecution and renewal can be inextricably embedded in arts and architecture in sites such as Schloss Leopoldskron, and how these dynamics can be challenged and transformed in the process of reclaiming belonging.
